----------------------------------------------------------------------
Poker - Not played much, bit more late November. Popped my calf playing Indoor Cricket OUCH. Been on crutches until yesterday !!!!!!!
Dabbled in a few MTTs, only 1 FT to write home about and a slight loss in £££.
One gripe, Crypto has changed the 11pm competition, NOT happy !!!
Villa sit 5th in the Premiership at the moment and to be realistic thats the best i am sure we can hope for. Good results against Arsenal and Man Utd mixed in with Stoke,Boro and Fulham says it all.
Had a great day out at Wembley for the 2nd International Series match.
New Orleans Saints 'Hosting' San Diego Chargers in a Week 8 Match up.
In a very entertaining and high scoring game the Saints ran out deserving winners beating the Chargers 37-32. Devery Henderson scoring the games first TD was in particular the highlight for my pocket £3 @ 22/1 very nice :)
Whilst typing next years game has been announced The Buccaneers of Tampa Bay will 'Host' The Patriots of New England on Sunday 25th October. A very good match up indeed for most ,but, i am personally disappointed. Having already seen the Pats and Tom Brady in the flesh at Dolphin Stadium a couple of years ago i was hoping to see, maybe Peyton and the Colts.
Well Simon and i will no doubt be their though ;)
The Dolphins are 7-5 right now. WOW who would have thought that after last seasons debacle !!!!!!
We sit tied with the Pats in the AFC East 1 game behind the Jets. Do i dare mention the P word ? I doubt it but Parcells and Sparano have done a mighty job to get us this far. In a funny kinda way Favre coming out of retirement was a blessing for the Fins because that allowed QB Chad Pennington to become available and we snapped him up in double quick time.
He isn't Peyton, Drew, Eli or Kurt but Chad has been solid and has got the offence doing just enough. The D headed by Joey Porter has looked above average and its all good just now.
NFL is big on SKYSPORTS and they run their Fantasy Competition every week.
In Week 10 guess what, yours truly only managed to win the Weekly Comp with 163 points :)
A Goody bag on its way but even better, each weekly winner goes into a prize draw. A trip for 2 to go to the Superbowl for the lucky person drawn out. A 1 in 17 chance to go to the Superbowl in Tampa in February would be a dream come true !!!!!!!
Winner is drawn out the first weekend of the playoffs, heres hoping :)
If you want to play go to NFLUK.COM , join (its free) go to GAMES then FANTASY FOOTBALL.
ps Simons already packed his case lol
Should be back at work Mon 8th Dec so will have to make the most of this week.
Now i can walk again i will be back at Hall Green, the regulars might have missed me ;)
So have the regulars on the £2 Betfair Forum Thread, will catch up with them very soon.
Well, finally got arsed to update.
Thx and GL
Neil

July Dog Of The Month -- Russ
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Had a great month at the tables where the $5K GTD win was obviously the highlight.
Played a lot more in July thanks to having some time off work and really enjoyed it.
Almost won A 'Gatsby' but thanks for the honourable mention ;)
Unfortunately my car has been wrote off after the accident and will continue to drive the posh courtesy car for now ;)
Footy season just around the corner so Saturdays will become hard work again ;)
Looks like the Gareth Barry saga continues and it looks like he has played his last game for us :(
Anyways Thx and GL

Big High + Massive Low
Last time i posted we had 5 runners to finish off the month, so on Tues 29th we made the usual trip to Hall Green.
Polar and Teddy ran, both finishing 4th, then the fun started.
Russ ran a blinder to win his fifth A1 in fine style, obviously we were delighted :)
Then 30 mins later Marvin lines up for a S3 race. We fancied our chances of a double especially as Marv had been flying of late.
Traps went up and he found himself in a good position, as the race unfolded we were getting quite excited as he was coming with his usually late charge. Just as Marv hits the front, for some unknown reason he decides to 'have a look' as he goes by. After the 'Interference' he comes home in 3rd beaten Shd, Shd.
Now after 96 races and never showing any tendancy to be Awkward EVER we were hoping that he may be given the benefit of the doubt and just be marked 'AWK' !!!!!!
The result of the race came over the tannoy and we heard the dreaded comments ''Trap 6 Shear Heaven has been Disqualified for Deliberate Interference''. We were distraught. Marvins career has been left in tatters and he may not run again :(
Discussions will be held over the coming days to see if he can race at HG again, but to be honest i think it will be highly unlikely :(
Latest results --
Tues 29th
Polar (1/9) 4th in A2.
Teddy (8/37) 4th in 645 hcap.
Russ (4/22) WON A1@2/1 4.64 sectional :)
Marvin (7/36) 3rd in S3. DQ see above :(
Weds 30th
Shelley (1/15) 3rd in A7.

Teddy 'Powers' For A1 Success
Teddy (Lagganmore Power) has been running really well this month, so well that he tasted victory in an A1 for the first time on Friday :)
His style of running (coming from off the pace) makes him really exciting to watch.
Since taking him to Perry Barr for the Open behind the smart Olygirl he has won 6/14, gone from A4 to A1 and took a 645m Hcap off scratch in fine style. WELL DONE Teddy :)
Last weeks runners ---
Tues 22nd
Shelley (1/14) 3rd in A7.
Weds 23rd
Belle (2/16) WON A7@11/4 well done Lightning ;)
Marvin (7/35) 3rd in A1, failed the 4 timer but still another good run.
Fri 25th
Teddy (8/36) WON A1@5/2 Got up in the shadows for his maiden A1 win :)
Polar (1/8) 6th in A2, needed that run after long lay off.
Sat 26th
Belle (2/17) 5th in A6, ran better than position suggests after encountering traffic problems.
July --- 9/25 (for us Win to Run Ratio is fantastic)
Year - 46/246
On Tuesdays card (tomorrow) we have four runners.
Polar, Russ, Teddy and Marvin.
Our Final runner of the month will be Shelley, she is out on Weds Bags.
Very best of luck to all 5 :)
After my win at the start of the month, the poker is still not too bad, a few FT appearances but no more victorys to report.
No one likes finishing Second :(
BUT Ukgatsby did just that recently in Cryptos $20k GTD for $4,000 :)
A truly Great result Mate WP ;)
I am sure a 'Major' one like this wont be too far away :)
Down at Villa Park. Wilfred Bouma's injury tainted our win in the InterToto Cup First Round.
Lets hope for a speedy recovery.
Gareth Barry came on as a Sub for him and lets hope he can be persuaded to stay at the club for at least another 12 months.
Anyways Thx and GL

Lucy (5/19) 3 WINS from six starts, a fantastic month Winning A5,A4+ 645 Hcap.

Marvin (4/25) A couple of 2nds in S3+A3 from 5 runs.

Russ (1/15) Has started to trial back on.
Shelley (0/8) 2nd+4th in A7s after coming back from season.
Teddy (4/25) Ran 3rd behind the smart Olygirl at Perry Barr in a 660m Open. Has WON 2 from 3 since back at HG at A4+A3 level. Running well.
Tom (4/18) Won an A2 in a very good time from 3 runs, also 3rd and 5th in A1 company but came off sore after his latest run. Having a few weeks off.
May --- 8/39
Year - 32/190
A good month for us with 8 winners :)
Lucy and Teddy the pick of the bunch.
June hopefully will be the same and looking forward to see Shelley and Russ in full flow again and hopefully Polar breaking his duck ;)
Puppy Dan went to Ireland to continue his rearing and Janey has found a new home :)
May Dog Of The Month -- LUCY just shades it with 3 wins from 6 starts.
Been a busy start to June already and will be updated after Saturdays runners.
Well done to Loyal Honcho on a great win in this years Greyhound Derby, a deserved success for the Grahams after going so close in the past.
The Epsom Derby takes place in a few hours and i fancy New Approach to taste Classic Glory for the Bolger team.
NFL Tickets for the October Wembley game between the New Orleans Saints and the San Diego Chargers went on sale late in May and Simon and I will be there again to see the action :)
Euro 2008 starts tonight, with no home nations in attendance it will be very different but the football should still be good with many of the top Premiership players out there.
A boring tip but i fancy the Germans to win it with Spain taking the runners up spot.
GL + Thx

April Stats and Comments
Six Winners from 34 runners in April, latest comments
(year to date)
Belle (1/13) On seasonal rest at present.
Betty (3/8) 3 runs in A5, winning Once, KO'd in first attempt at A4 has trialled back in.
Fivo (2/13) 3 runs at A2 level without success.
Janey (3/9) Gone to RGT on 28th, looking for a loving new home.
Lucy (2/13) 3 runs in A4 and trialled in over 6 bends.
Lulu (3/14) Won twice this month A6+A5 from 4 starts, benefitted from the rest.
Marvin (4/20) no wins from 4 starts in an eventful month, graded back on after latest tumble.
Russ (1/15) 2 starts in A1 early on, he is having a well deserved break, been on the go non stop since we had him, 73 runs already.
Teddy (2/20) 6 starts over 4+6 bends in April, winning on his lastest run in a 645 Hcap.
Tom (3/15) Our busiest racer with 2 wins from 7 starts. Winning at A3+A2 level.
Shelley (0/6) Just the one run in A7 after coming back from season.
Polar (0/0) Has graded on and awaiting first race, probably go in around A2.
April - 6/34
Year - 24/151
April Dog Of The Month - Tom (2/7) and up to A1
Looking forward to May with Polar having his first run, Lucy tackling 6 bends, Russ coming back and Shelley fully back from season.
I will be watching a couple of Hounds with interest in their careers in England which will start shortly. Their names are Longrange Jewel and Pats Boss.
Also sometime in May puppy Dan should be off to Ireland to continue his progress.
Lucy and Betty kick off our May runners tonight, Tom runs Tomorrow.
The 2008 Greyhound Derby gets underway at Wimbledon tonight.
The first round will be run over the the next 2 nights, not as many entries this year but it looks like quality all the way with plenty fancying their chances.
My early two against the field are Catunda Harry and Farloe Black !!!!
Had a really good April at the tables. Only played about 8 days in total, 1 Win and 8 FTs from about 20 mtts was a great effort :)
The football season concludes in May and there is still loads to play for.
Villa still have an outside chance of making 5th in the Premiership after our recent good run.
The Baggies are guaranteed promotion but still have the Title to win.
Man U + Chelsea are tied on pts at the top and have set up a mouth watering trip to Moscow where they meet in the Champions League Final.
Relegation battles aplenty to be decided over the coming weeks.
In Scotland, the Auld Firm still have the Title to play for and Rangers will travel to Manchester after booking their place in the Uefa Cup Final, they will take on Zenit St Petersburg (what price would that have been at the start)
Finally NFL is back on the agenda, the Draft has taken place and tickets go on sale for the Wembley October game sometime in May.
Thx and GL

Made FT in both and got HU in HH v guy who had given me a bit of grief earlier for pushing 5 hands in row. He said i was tilting but i actually had 5 small pps in a row.

The Second City Derby takes place on Sunday and both of us have plenty to play for.
Chelsea beating Everton last night may open the door for us into Europe, if we beat the Blues we then travel to Goodison next week for a massive game.
The Blues need a win to help in their Relegation dog fight.
Lets have a good game and let the best team win ;)
The Scottish National tomorrow and lets try and do better in this than the Grand National.
I know its got top weight but i really fancy Halcon Genelardais to run a Big Big race !!!!!!

Grand National Thoughts
Tomorrow is our busiest day of the year by far, all those once a year punters asking the same old questions but its a great day and usually flies by. Lets hope for a trouble free day ;)
The race itself is as competitive as ever and with the bottom weight carrying 10 stone 7 lbs, only 19lbs covers the whole field which has to be a first. I will highlight a few contenders.
Cloudy Lane has a Favs chance but at around 6/1 i will not be interested.
Comply Or Die i feel will struggle to get round and i think he will be Pulled Up.
Slim Pickings, out of all the horses to finish the course last year i feel he will come out best of them and run into a place again.
Simon was going well last year when falling and although he has a different jockey (possible upgrade for me) i think if the ground doesn't dry up to much he has a major chance (On at 20/1 e/w in December)
Bewleys Berry has similar claims to Simon and must be on anyones shortlist granted a clear round.
Butlers Cabin has AP aboard but i am not sure if he has fallen out with the game.
Hedgehunter will jump round but at his age with a big weight cant see him winning (6-12 place finish for me)
Knowhere is an interesting contender, he beat Our Vic easily in Jan and that form is solid now, could go well at a price.
Iron Man (ran in Gold Cup) is the biggest longshot in the race if you fancy a speculative punt.
Others that interest me if they are still intact with their jockeys at halfway would be Snowy Morning, Mr Pointment, Dun Doire (given too much to do in 2007), D'argent, Turko, Black Apalachi and Backbeat.
My prediction for the race is ..............................
1 Simon
2 Knowhere
3 Slim Pickings
4 Bewleys Berry
probably way off the mark but GL with your picks.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Early runners at Hall Green in April as follows -
Weds 2nd
Tom (1/9) 3rd in A3
Lucy (2/11) 2nd in A4
On Thurs Shelley had a sprint Trial, 480m next week
Friday 4th (Today)
Lulu (2/11) WON A6@4/1 , the rest did her a power of good :)
Betty (2/5) 5th in A5
Fivo (2/11) 6th in A2, a bumpy ride for him
Marvin (4/17) 4th in A2
Teddy (1/15) 5th in S3, slightly disappointing

Cheltenham Comments + HG Latest
Well what a week that was.
The Festival kicked off on Tuesday with the Supreme Nov Hurdle, 8/1 the Field, probably the most open betting heat in the Festivals History. I went for Mccoy who was on Binocular and i thought i was off to a winning start. They travelled well all through the race but after the last Captain Cee Bee (Mccoys cast off) wore them down to take the Opener in style.
After race 1 we knew that the ground was Soft and not what we had been told by Mr Claisse !!!!
The Arkle up next and Tidal Bay was a very impressive winner of a substandard renewal.
Champion Hurdle, and who would have thought it that the Irish wouldn't make the first 3 home !!
Katchit the 5yo bravely held off Osano to take the honours with Punjabi taking 3rd. A few valid excuses from the irish who will be back stronger than ever next year.
Onto the Handicaps with An Accordian, Garde Champetre and Crack Away Jack landing the spoils, the latter foiling Ashkazar in his quest to claim the Bonus from the previous Saturdays Imperial Cup.
Wednesday arrived and so did the High Winds. Cheltenham Abandoned. Called off around 8.30am. Around Midday the schedule for the remainder of the meeting came out, 10 races on Thursday and 9 on Friday. That meant the two best racing days EVER.
Thursday, winds had gone, racing was on for Bumper 10 race card.
The Four Miler started preceedings and Old Benny outstayed Over The Creek :(
SA Chase up next and we have our first winning FAV at the meeting where Albertas Run ran out a good winner.
Finger OnThe Pulse held the late challenge of the Queens Barber Shop in the Jewson Hcap.
Next was the Performance of the meeting. Master Minded, a 5yo blew the opposition away in The Champion Chase, sauntering home 19l clear of previous Champion Vor Por Estudes. At 5yo one wonders how many more Champion Chases he can win ?
Our Vic led from piller to Post in the Ryanair Chase for an easy success and boosted my flagging funds ;)
The World Hurdle up next and the amazing Inglis Drever arrives late on the scene to take the race for the Third time. He is the First Horse to record a Treble in this Grade 1 race.
Mister McGoldrick rolled back the years when routing his field in the RP Plate. His winning SP of 66/1 would be the biggest of the week.
Bally Fitz for Twiston-Davies took the Pertemps Final from Staying Chaser Miko De Beauchene.
High Chimes landed a competitive renewal of the Kim Muir from the fast finishing Openide.
Willie Mullins again landed the Bumper this time with Cousin Vinny who i think will be a very good winner of this race (some of them dont train on). Zaarito is better than his running here and was given an indifferent ride !!!!!
Friday was the day we had been waiting for. The Gold Cup match between Champion Kauto Star and The Pretender Denman. Before that though we had 5 races to get through. We had a new race this year. The first running of the Mares only event went to Whiteoak at 20/1. She travelled really well during the race and held off the late challenge of Refinement by a SH HD.
Fiveforthree stayed on strongly for Ruby Walsh as they took a strong renewal in the Ballymore Hurdle. There will be winners aplenty come out of this race and many will go Novice Chasing next season.
Naiad De Misselot came out best from Kicks For Free in a driving finish to the Coral Cup by a nose. Junior faded into 3rd and was matched for Thousands on Betfair at very short prices after leading at the last, Ouch.
The Triumph Hurdle looked a match pre race and thats how it turned out where Celestial Halo made all of the running to beat Fav Franchoek fairly comfortably.
Alan King's Nenuphar Collonges took the 3 mile Nov Hurdle from Liskennett and The Tother One who gave Sam Thomas a few steering problems going to the last. Will be interesting to see when the winner goes back over fences.
Onto the eagerly awaited Gold Cup. Kauto Star v Denman.
Kauto Star went off a shade of odds on and powerhouse Denman was a 9/4 shot.
Confidence had come for the reigning Champion but both horses looked a picture.
Paul Nicholls' other horse Neptune Collonges made the early running with Denman just behind and Kauto tracking him. With a circuit to go Denman takes up the running and Kauto gets in close to one. Away from the stands Denman leads form Neptune and Kauto with Halcon Genelardais,Exotic Dancer and Afistfullofdollars in behind. As Denman and Sam Thomas keep up the relentless gallop Kauto Star brushes through a couple more fences and you can sense he may be in trouble. Top of the hill and Denman is asked to quicken, Neptune Collonges still in second tries to follow and Ruby starts rowing away on Kauto Star, there is no initial response and Ruby gives him a crack. Denman rounds the home turn with a big lead and Kauto starts to run on, into second past Neptune he looks dangerous for a while but Denman puts it to bed with a good jump at the last and sails up the hill for a 7l victory. Kauto Star plugs on for second just holding off a resurgent Neptune Collonges close home for a memorable 1-2-3 for Paul Nicholls. Denman wins and in some style. Halcon Genelardais runs on from way back and is beaten only 16l at the line (remarkable because with 3 to jump he was well adrift).
Now my take on the race and having backed Denman is that there was not much left in the tank, where as Kauto Star didnt jump at his best and the ground softer than ideal for him .
Neptune Collonges ran with great credit and gives Nicholls a head ache where to campaign him from now on. Halcon Genelardais on this run will be hard to beat over extreme distances with his abundance in stamina.
We eagerly await the next installment and on quicker ground who knows, but on this day Denman was a worthy winner.
The foxhunters went to Amicelli, Tiger Cry a good winner of the Grand Annual and Silver Jaro took the finale The County Hurdle beating Psycho on whom Carberry over did the waiting tactics.
I showed a slight loss on the week. Tuesdays selections ran ok with a couple of places.
Thursday a small bet on Old Benny, a nice one on Our Vic and doubled up with Inglis Drever for a nice return.
Friday, small bet on Amicello (thanks to my work colleague) and with Denman doing the business in the Gold Cup i almost clawed it all back.
No winners this week at HG - recap

Cheltenham Festival Final Day
Managed to find a couple of winners on Thursday :)
Onto Fridays 9 race card, don't fancy anything strongly but here goes
12.30 Mares Only
The Festivals newest race, Chomba Womba looks a worthy Fav but i will take her on with Labelthou. Emma Lavelle has her horses running well at present and she will be hoping for her second winner of the week.
1.05 Ballymore Hurdle
See Day 2, Breedsbreeze.
1.40 Coral Cup
See Day 2, Junior.
2.15 Triumph Hurdle
Franchoek is the one to beat, his form seems rock solid and with only 15 runners this year the cream should rise to the top. Celestial Halo looks the only danger.
2.50 Albert Bartlett Nov Hurdle
Gone To Lunch finished only 9l behind Triple World Hurdler Inglis Drever, that should see him go very close here. Wouldn't put anyone off backing Carruthers or The Tother One though.
3.15 Tote Gold Cup
Sit back and enjoy !!!!!!!!
Lets hope we have an epic here, whether your on Kauto Star or Denman lets hope the best horse wins. Nothing else can possibly barring accidents. Personally i'm with Denman ;)
4.05 Foxhunters
Agus A Vic won well last time and he'll do for me, the once smart Lord Of Illusion is an interesting runner and is worth a saver.
4.40 Grand Annual
Wheres me pin !!!!!!!!!! no idea ;) Almaydan maybe.
5.20 County Hurdle
The Finale as trappy as ever. Mon Michel (Jamie rides instead of Wingman) and Missis Potts my two against the field.
Happy Punting and GL

Cheltenham Festival 10 Race Bonanza
After the postponement of Day 2 due to the high winds we have a Bumper 10 race card on Thursday.
Have given a few tips already but will keep them in time order.
12.30 NH Chase
Over The Creek , see Day 2
1.15 Sun Alliance Chase
Air Force One , see Day 2
1.40 Jewson Nov Chase
A typical wide open Festival Handicap, small interest in Paul Nicholls' pair Dear Villez and Arturio
2.20 Champion Chase
Vor Por Ustedes , see Day 2 (wouldn't rule out Twist Magic if ground has dried out)
2.55 Ryanair Chase
A guaranteed fast pace with The Listener in the field, i give Our Vic one last chance to shine.
He patently didn't stay the extended 3 mile last time but this should be right up his street.
3.30 World Hurdle
I can't have defeat for Inglis Drever, he has beaten most of these before easily and i am sure they won't turn the tables.
4.05 RP Plate
JP's Don't Push It goes in this Handicap and many feel he is very nicely handicapped but at the prices i can't have him on my mind. I go for a speculative punt on Borora who has run well in the past at the Festival.
4.40 Pertemps Final
Have absolutely no idea but if i had to choose one i would go with Nicky Richards Gunner Jack.
5.15 Kim Muir
At 7/1 or 8/1 the field it shows what an open race this is. My two against the field will be Bob Bob Bobbin and Newbay Prop.
5.50 Bumper
See Day 2 also beginning to fancy Zaarito now.
Plenty of stamina needed for this day and who used to say the Thursday of the Festival was rubbish ;)
With Cheltenham being off i turned up at Hall Green this morning to find that around half a dozen of coaches had been diverted to there. With the money burning holes in their pockets they soon got stuck into the action. Hope they didn't back any of ours cos they would have done there dough (results posted later)
Thx and GL
